PT’s can very effectively help workers avoid MSD of the lower back and neck-arm. Workplaces are also seeing problems among their AGING workers. Musculo-skeletal aging changes are highly reversible ! We teach people how to succeed at this.
WHAT WE DO… onsite at client workplaces
We first do an MSD Ergonomics Risks Assessment, to identify their MSD Risk Factors.
We then use this initial assessment to TEACH everyone at the workplace how to reduce their MSD risks. This is typically done via a choice of several PowerPoint presentations to teach workers how to avoid MSD…. “The MSD School” (a combined Back School and Neck-Arm Overuse School, teaching people how to avoid these problems)… an “Office Ergonomics School” (targeting office-based employees)… and “The AGING Worker School” (currently in great demand by workplaces).
These workplace employee training programs teach: 1. personal ergonomics tactics, 2. MSD risks exposure reduction such as job task rotation and sit-stand options, 3. worker self-care tactics such as workplace micro-stretches (yes, these work, very well, and we have evidence to back it up), plus after-work recovery stretches. Client workplaces enjoy excellent outcomes.
We also teach managers and supervisors how to reduce their Worker Comp costs by addressing how they manage MSD problems in the workplace: early reporting of pain, accessing proper care, effective return-to-work strategies… policies and politics of MSD.
Our standard consulting fee for client workplaces is $350/hr, direct pay, no ripoff insurance billing. The big challenge is HOW TO MARKET the prevention programs to your potential client workplaces (many PTs stumble badly at marketing this service). We KNOW how to succeed at marketing to workplaces (after 600 workplaces since 1982; yeah, we know how to do this).
